Coming Back to a Heart of Worship

Posted by Weekly Worship On 7:41 AM 1 comments
Recently I was speaking with a friend about various worship songs when it was pointed out that I'm really drawn to one song. When I think about my favorite worship song, it's hands down, the Revelation Song by Phillips, Craig and Dean. I love just about any version of the Revelation song and listen to it daily. I was a little surprised to hear that the song, Heart of Worship by Matt Redman is the one that I'm drawn to. Not that it's a bad song, by any means, I just never realized that I was so drawn to it. So I started dwelling on this thought, on the words of the song and I then I realized why I'm drawn to this song. I had spent several months simply clinging to the Lord, claiming his promises instead of truly praising Him for his goodness and mercies. I had covered up my heart of worship with so many things, that I was missing time adoring my Heavenly Father. The truly sad part is, I did not even realized it had happened. It was something that slowly happened, through circumstances beyond my control and I never realized it.

Being "thankful" to the Lord for his blessing is different than "Praising" the Lord for WHO He is! I spent many "worship services" not worshipping at all. I sang, enjoyed the songs, was thankful for my blessings, but if I had taken the time to strip away everything around MY worship - it was desperate clinging and not worship. I had, at some point, stopped adoring God for who HE was. I had stopped making it all about the Lord, how great He is, how majestic He is, how worthy He is and had made it about other things. There are going to be many times in our life when we must cling to His promises, but we still need to adore Him, for he is truly worthy of our Praise. An attitude of gratitude is great and we need that, but we also need to simply sit with our Father and just adore Him.

I want to simply Praise Him with music, verses and every other way I can think of. I don't want to try and impress anyone around me with eloquent prayers, choir like singing or anything else that will draw attention to myself. I don't want to make my worship about anything other than Him. I want to strip everything away, and simply come to Him with something that's of worth, that will bless HIS heart. I want to always have a true heart of Worship, a heart of adoration. I hope that you do too. I hope that as you sing praises to the Lord, that your heart will be touched and you'll allow God to look deeply into your heart, and your desire will be that He will find your heart of worship.

When the music fades
And all is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that's of worth
That will bless your heart

I'll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within

Through the ways things appear
You're looking into my heart

I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about You
All about You, Jesus
I'm sorry Lord for the thing I've made it
When it's all about You
It's all about You Jesus

King of endless worth
No one could express
How much You deserve
Though I'm weak and poor
All I have is Yours
Every single breath

I'll bring You more than just a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You're looking into my heart

I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about You
All about You, Jesus
I'm sorry Lord for the thing I've made it
When it's all about You
It's all about You Jesus

Its all about you
Jesus
